Asphalt Resurfacing
Increase Lifespan
Resurfacing your asphalt surface increases the lifespan and appearance of your driveway, parking lot, and residential/commercial areas. When done correctly, asphalt resurfacing will eliminate any cracks and unevenness on your surface. When patching and repair work is not sufficient, a complete resurfacing is required in order to repair the flaws in your asphalt.
Upgrade Your Asphalt
Your driveway or parking lot creates the first impression for your guests, customers, and clients. Calgary Paving’s team has the experience and expertise required to complete your commercial or residential resurfacing project. When your asphalt is cracked, or uneven, your property loses its value. Our services include: driveway resurfacing, parking lot resurfacing, and acreage resurfacing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is asphalt resurfacing?
Asphalt resurfacing, also called an overlay, prepares your existing pavement and lays a fresh layer of hot mix asphalt over top of it. The result is a smooth, uniform, like-new surface without the cost of a full tear-out and rebuild. It is the right solution when the base underneath is still solid but the surface has cracked, faded, or become uneven.
How do I know if I need resurfacing instead of a repair?
Crack filling and patching work well for isolated damage. Once the cracking is widespread, the surface has gone uneven, or the same repairs keep coming back, resurfacing is usually the better investment. When patching and repair work is no longer sufficient, a complete resurfacing is what properly corrects the flaws in your asphalt.
Can every asphalt surface be resurfaced?
Not always. Resurfacing only works when the base and sub-base underneath are still structurally sound. If we find deep alligator cracking, recurring potholes, drainage problems, or a failing base, removing the old asphalt and repaving is the longer-lasting choice. We assess all of this on site before we quote, so you are never paying for an overlay that will not last.
What kinds of properties do you resurface?
We resurface residential driveways, acreage driveways and lanes, commercial and industrial parking lots, pathways, and sport courts. Whether it is a single-family driveway or a large multi-tenant parking lot, we have the crews and the equipment for it. We serve Calgary and Southern Alberta.
How long does an asphalt resurfacing project take?
Most residential driveways are completed in a single day. Larger parking lots and acreage projects depend on square footage, site access, and how much prep or grading is required. You will get a clear timeline with your quote, and we work to finish on time and on budget.
When can I drive and park on my newly resurfaced asphalt?
You can usually walk on it within a few hours and drive on it after roughly 24 to 48 hours, depending on the weather. New asphalt continues to harden for several weeks, so for the first while avoid sharp turns, turning your wheels while stopped, and parking heavy vehicles or trailers in one spot. Your crew lead will give you exact timing for your project.
When is the best time of year to resurface asphalt in Calgary?
Paving season in Calgary generally runs from spring through fall. Warm, dry, stable weather lets asphalt compact and cure the way it should, which is why late spring through early fall gives the best results. Our season is short and the calendar fills quickly, so it pays to book early.
How much does asphalt resurfacing cost?
Every property is different, so we price each project individually. Cost is driven by square footage, the condition of the existing surface, how much prep, grading, or drainage work is needed, the thickness of the new layer, and site access. Call 403.263.2411 or email quotes@calgarypaving.com for a free, no-obligation estimate.
How long will a resurfaced driveway or parking lot last?
With a sound base, proper installation, and regular upkeep, a resurfaced asphalt surface will give you many years of service. Calgary freeze-thaw cycles are hard on pavement, so we use durable materials suited to Alberta extreme climate. Sealing, filling cracks early, and keeping water draining away from the surface all add years to its life.
